Hundreds of distinguished authors and intellectuals from around the world will lead a vibrant cultural program
The 41st Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) will take place on November 2nd, it was announced on Tuesday. This year’s theme has been declared by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) as ‘Spread the word.’
SIBF 41 will be held at the Expo Centre Sharjah till November 13. This year’s honored visitor is Italy.
A dynamic cultural program will be led by hundreds of eminent authors and thinkers from around the world.
“The SIBF represents a living manifestation of Sharjah’s ambitions set more than 50 years ago, to present to the world one of the most successful and pioneering developmental projects in the region and the world – one founded on investing in culture and human capital development; one that transcends libraries and creative events, authors, intellectuals, and poets to influence and shape other key sectors of a nation and the world,” said Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of SBA. A nation’s identity is shaped by books. Books are economic engines; they are change agents and development tools. Without them, no advances in knowledge, research, or investment can be made.”
The 41st edition’s tagline, ‘Spread the word,’ according to Khawla Al Mujaini, general coordinator of SIBF, shows the actual power inherent in words and their effect on every part of life. “We aim to express with this phrase that words are not written to be concealed inside book covers.” Words are at the center of all creative endeavors, and indeed, of all we do.”
The SIBF will reach a key cultural milestone in 2021 when it becomes the year’s largest publishing event in terms of commercial exchanges and copyright sales.
