Dubai announces free public parking for Islamic New Year

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that public parking in Dubai will be free on Friday, July 21, as the UAE observes the Islamic New Year. In paid zones, parking costs won’t be charged aside from at multi-level terminals. To celebrate the beginning of the Hijiri New Year 1445, employees in the emirates’ public and private sectors will each have a three-day weekend.

Changes to the timing of its services were also announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Customer Happiness Centres, pay-to-park areas, public buses, the metro, tram, marine transport, and service provider centres (car technical testing) are all subject to change.

Vehicle Technical Testing centres and customer happiness centres will be closed starting on Friday, July 21, and will reopen on Saturday, July 22.

Except for the smart customer happiness centres in Umm Ramool, Al Kafaf, Deira, Al Barsha, and RTA Head Office, which will continue to provide 24/7 service as normal, all customer happiness centres will be closed on Friday, July 21.

From 5:00 am until 1:00 am (the next day), the red and green lines of the Dubai Metro will both be in operation. Dubai Tram will run from six in the morning till one in the morning (the next day).

On Friday, July 21, public buses in Dubai will operate from 5:00 am until 12:30 am (the following day). The schedules for all metro link bus routes will be in sync.

Currently in operation are the following intercity bus routes: (E16) from Al Sabkha to Hatta; (E100) from Al Ghubaiba to Abu Dhabi; (E101) from Ibn Battuta to Abu Dhabi; (E102) from Al Jaffiliya to Al Mussafah; and (E201) from Al Ghubaiba to Al Khor. To Al Ain, take the E303 from the Union Station, the E306 from Al Ghubaiba, the E307 from City Centre Deira, the E307A from Abu Hail, the E315 from Etisalat Station to Muwaileh in Sharjah, the E400 from the Union Station to Ajman, the E411 from Etisalat Station to Ajman, and the E700 from the Union Station to Fujairah.

Marine Transport Water Bus: Marina Terrace – Marina Walk (and vice versa) from 04:08 pm to 11:16 pm; Full Route 04:08 pm to 10:56 pm; Dubai Marina (BM1) Marina Walk (and vice versa) from 12:00 noon to 12:11 am (the following day).

From 4:00 pm to 11:40 pm and, dependent on demand, from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, take the water taxi to the Marina Mall-Bluewaters (BM3). Customers are required to reserve in advance.

The following Dubai ferry routes are available: Al Ghubaiba – Dubai Water Canal (FR1) at 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm; Dubai Water Canal – Al Ghubaiba (FR1) at 02:20 pm to 07:20 pm; Dubai Water Canal – Bluewaters (FR2) at 01:50 pm and 06:50 pm; Bluewaters – Marina Mall (FR2) at 02:50 pm to 07:50 pm; Marina Mall – Bluewaters (FR2) at 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
