Dr. Marwan Al Zarouni also stresses that compliance, safety, and security are an important aspect

According to Dr. Marwan Al Zarouni, Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Blockchain Centre and Director of Information Services at the Dubai Electronic Security Centre, the first and most commercially feasible usage of the metaverse right now is gamification.

Dr. Zarouni was speaking at the inaugural Meta vision metaverse conference on Wednesday. The one-day event, organized by Khaleej Times, will take place on Wednesday, September 21 at Al Habtoor Palace.

The meeting is attended by senior government and business sector representatives. There will be thought leadership speakers, interactive workshops, panel discussions, AR/VR installations, and other activities during the event.

The first event was greeted by Vinay Kamat, Editor-in-Chief of the Khaleej Times.

“Whoever controls the metaverse, rules the planet,” declared Dr. Al Zarouni. However, he emphasized that the metaverse is a vast universe in which compliance is essential.

He stated that the metaverse approach is centered on value generation and upskilling youngsters to meet the needs of the industry.

He emphasized the importance of security and safety in the metaverse, stating that the UAE has zero tolerance for harassment and bullying, which fosters a healthy atmosphere.

Concerning the value of seamless experiences, particularly in the metaverse, he stated that individuals who have experienced Dubai digitally are more inclined to visit than those who have not.

Leila Hurst, Chief Metaverse Officer, VerseEstate, stated at a panel discussion regarding the role of women in the metaverse that there aren’t many ladies in the metaverse industry. “When I attend seminars, I only see one or two girls.”

The speakers will cover topics ranging from bitcoin to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), experiential commerce, how governments should prepare for the metaverse, and the convergence of the physical and digital worlds.
